The White Township roads department this week began an upgrade of about one-half mile of McHenry Road, off Old Route 119 in northern White Township.
The crew excavated the shoulder and installed a new storm drain line with several cross pipes and outlets, and has begun repaving that section of the road.
While McHenry Road passes mainly through farm and forest land, this improvement project is serving a growing residential development. The improvements will make the road more accessible for school buses, easier to maintain by salt and plow trucks in the winter, and more attractive for future growth.
With favorable weather, the project will be completed in the week of Sept. 18.
