Penelec has announced the start of a tree trimming project intended to keep vegetation away from the power lines that cross through Indiana County.
The “natural directional pruning” project will include Penelec’s right-of-way through White’s Woods in White Township.
Penelec has retained Davey Resource Group to complete the tree trimming. The electric company plans to remove as much as five years of growth to keep the power lines free of obstruction and to prevent electric service interruptions.
A combination of federal and state regulations govern the pruning process on electric company rights-of-way. White Township has been notified as a property owner and has no role in the tree trimming work.
Penelec said the work is scheduled to start after "the end of May."
