Did someone say "weekend project?"

You’ve been creative. You’ve worked hard. Now it’s time to be rewarded.

The White Township Halloween home decorating contest is now open. The township office is accepting entries for judging over the next two weeks.

Your decoration theme could be scary or humorous. It could be quirky or just plain macabre.

But if you think the look of your home can give the judges a case of giggles or hair-raising chills, this is the contest for you.

Complete this online entry form or contact White Township by email (cross@whitetownship.org) or by phone (724.463.8585 ext. 111) to register for the judging. Report the full road or street address of the entry, the name of the person who put it together, and the better time that it should be viewed (in daylight for full view, or after dark for special effects).

Provide a phone number that the judges may call or text with any questions.

Send a photo, if you’re able. The entry won’t be judged alone on that, but it can assure that the judges are viewing the correct place.

Gift packages from the White Township Recreation Department will be awarded to the three best displays. The winners will be announced at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, in time for area residents to plan a drive-by to admire the effort over Halloween weekend.

Keep in mind, too, that the board of supervisors has designated 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, for door-to-door trick-or-treating in White Township.

Representatives of groups and organizations in the township also are welcome to send notice of Halloween related festivities to be included in other contest reminders and announcements over the next two weeks.

Good luck – and stay safe!
