Weekends spent raking fallen leaves will turn into Monday morning collections of bagged leaves again this year in White Township.
Road crew workers will pick up leaves Oct. 23 and 30, and Nov. 6, 13 and 20, 2023. The collection will begin at 7 a.m. each day.
Leaves should be packaged in biodegradable paper sacks and placed at curb or roadside for collection.
Plastic bags will be left behind, and the crews will not pick up leaves left in open piles.
Bags of leaves heavier than 50 pounds – generally, more than one person can lift without assistance – also will be left in place.
Other yard waste should be disposed in regular ways. The Indiana County Solid Waste Authority accepts grass, brush, tree limbs and leaves at the recycling center along Route 119. Residents can create their own compost piles at home for leaves and yard trimmings. Recyclable cans, bottles, plastics and newspapers are picked up in another program. Trash and rubbish should be set out on the usual garbage collection days.
